Art meets history and anatomy in this beautifully illustrated book. Author and artist Katrina van Grouw was a former curator of the ornithological collections at London's Natural History Museum. She has combined her skills and knowledge in creating this fascinating book. The book contains 385 drawings depicting 200 species and each drawing is made from an actual specimen and reproduced in a large format. Birds are shown in lifelike positions and often in poses that are delightfully funny. (We show an example of budgie skeleton—use your cursor for the rollover.) The accompanying text is easy to understand and relates birds' anatomy to their lifestyle and evolution. This book is a treasure.
