Papel picado, meaning perforated paper, is a decorative craft made out of paper or plastic, using elaborate designs. Although it is a Mexican folk art, it is used in many countries as a holiday decoration. These papel picado flags were made exclusively for The Fat Finch and each individual flag depicts a bird, including owl, doves, roadrunner, quail and hummingbird.
Each set includes 10 flags strung together and the colors are the spectrum of the rainbow. We had them made with plastic instead of the traditional paper, so they are more durable for hanging outdoors.
